Jess Stewart releases the enchanting 'Prince Charming (Went to Hell)'
Jess Stewart, a UK-based musician started her music career back in 2022. She released her debut single 'Rewrite Memories' that same year receiving a great amount of support from radio stations in the UK. Not only can she sing, she also produces her own music. In April 2023, her second single 'Twenties' came out allowing her to cement her position as a rising artist. In her music, we can hear the different influences of Dance Pop and Soul that are skilfully brought together. Jess uses her voice to share her take on the various experiences that the Gen-Z is facing. She has now added a third single to her discography titled 'Prince Charming (Went to Hell)' which was released on November 24th.
Believe it or not but the song stands as a breath of fresh air, a great addition to the Pop music scene! It candidly explores the difficulties that one can go through within relationships, the hopes and the deceit. The happily-ever-after narrative is being challenged as the idea of a perfect love story doesn't quite fit within our society anymore. Well, not for everybody...but that's another debate!
What sets 'Prince Charming (Went to Hell)' apart is its unique storytelling alongside a solid song structure. Jess has carefully put together a sound that perfectly compliments her message. The laughter in the intro set the tone, followed by catchy hooks, and vocals bringing that attitude. She jungles between her speaking and singing voice with ease. Sonically, we can listen to the nuances of Soul music and Jazz that are nicely incorporated into the song. We must admit, that’s very effective!
As Jess continues to carve a niche for herself within the British-Pop scene, 'Prince Charming (Went to Hell)' marks a departure from the traditional love song, moving away from the fairy tales. Now we will definitely be on the lookout for more music coming from Jess Stewart.
