Nadine Makalew's Musical Odyssey from Jakarta to the World
Nadine Makalew is a singer-songwriter based in Jakarta, Indonesia. She dropped her latest track ‘The Other Side’ on March 15th. The song is hitting all the right notes for anyone who's experienced a long-distance relationship which didn’t end so well. Nadine combines pop melodies, R&B electronic beats, and acoustic instrumentation. She creates a sound that is also soulful and has a sense of nostalgia.
Nadine has been on this musical journey for quite a long time. She was all about music from the very beginning. She started learning piano and electone, then she joined choirs and whatever music gig she could find. In 2015, she moved to Freiburg, Germany in order to take her music to the next level. She developed her skills as a songwriter at the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences.
Between 2020 and 2022, Nadine lived in Rotterdam, Netherlands. There, she spent most of her time working on her solo project and she collaborated with other musicians and producers. For her, it was a bit like a musical boot camp. It was really around this time that she started finding herself as an artist. Now, she’s back home in Jakarta and she brought with her all those memories, rich experiences and vibes from all her time abroad.
With her new single "The Other Side," Nadine Makalew takes us on a ride with her. She looks at the ups and downs of love and distance. She’s got this talent for mixing different musical genres into a cohesive and evocative narrative.
