‘Who Hears the Broken’: A Poignant New Release by Michelle Lockey

Michelle Lockey is set to release her new acoustic folk gem on July 12th titled ‘Who Hears the Broken’. It’s a song where you’ll hear about the themes of innocence lost and then finding resilience and finally winning against the odds. The song really goes deep into these feelings of being unseen, unheard, forgotten about in a world full of obstacles and challenges that we need to face.  With a simple but effective acoustic setup, Michelle’s unique and touching vocals transform the song into one that is authentic, relatable and moving.

The song's acoustic storytelling and folk vibes really come through with its minimalist yet powerful instrumentation. It was produced by Stephen Joseph Antonelli of Songbuilder Studios in Catonsville, MD. Him and Michelle have been working together for years on different albums. You can feel and hear their connection and experience in ‘Who Hears the Broken’. This song is actually part of a bigger album project where she explores different parts of her life, like losing innocence and bouncing back from tough times.

Michelle Lockey has such a great mix of influences. She started out being inspired by monuments like Amy Grant, Olivia Newton-John, and Queen, and later got into Evanescence, Kelly Clarkson, The Lumineers, The Civil Wars, Noah Cyrus, and boygenius. These different ways of making and approaching music has helped her develop her own sound and her own vision. Over the years, Michelle’s songs have been featured in an impressive number of films and TV shows, like "The Young and the Restless," "The Voice," "Longmire," and Hallmark's "Hope at Christmas," among others.

Despite the challenges that are described in "Who Hears the Broken," the song ultimately highlights and celebrates strength and hope. Michelle Lockey has this great ability to turn her personal struggles into something everyone can relate to, it’s like a mirror effect. Her music and lyrics touch souls and we are reminded listening to it, that no matter how dark things get, there's always some way of finding the light and come out it stronger. The song is out on July 12th, pre-save the link down below!
