Bethannie Hare’s Soulful Debut: A Bold Introduction with 'Minds Under My Skin'

Bethannie Hare released her debut single "Minds Under My Skin" on September 13th. Her voice is full of texture, nuances, and is very soulful. It sounds like she's been doing this forever. You can hear those classic jazz influences in her music. From the moment the song starts, there's an emotional depth that transports you. Her voice has this nice balance between control and vulnerability.

Bethannie grew up in Leeds, and jazz has always been an important part of her life. She was inspired by all the greats, and from a young age, she loved the freedom and emotion in jazz, especially the way it lets you improvise and express yourself in an authentic way. Now, she wants to make jazz more accessible to the younger generation, she wants to make it cool and really bring it to the modern era. She moved to London in 2022 and since then, she's been growing her fanbase as she even sold out a show at Alfie's jazz club. With each performance, she shows not only her technical skill but also her passion for the music.

“Minds Under My Skin” has a strong message about accepting who we are. It is an important message because we live in a world where social-media holds such a dominant place in people's lives. Bethannie has been inspired by her own life and personal experiences to write this song. Sometimes we can all feel this pressure to live up to these crazy standards and ideals of beauty and success. She says: "The song is all about not being happy with yourself, which I think social media plays a big role in." This new generation can understand exactly what she's talking about. Nowadays people constantly compare themselves to others through filtered and perfect images online. But through her music, she's challenging all that.

Bethannie recorded the single at Crystal Ship Studios in Sheffield, and she used a full band and old-school analogue gear to get that rich, vintage sound. The track’s got this warmth and depth that you don’t hear much anymore. "Minds Under My Skin" dropped on September 13th with Run Rabbit Run, and it’s a strong debut. This single sets the tone for what promises to be a bold and exciting soulful career ahead.
