Catlea Releases Her New Single: The Pop and Soulful ‘Bones’
‘Bones’ explores the complexities surrounding breakups, things we’ve all felt but don’t want to revisit. Catlea goes deep into those confusing, sometimes contradicting emotions, tackling some of the unanswered questions and that constant back-and-forth of “what went wrong?” The lyrics hit that strange place where you’re not completely over someone but are so tired of talking about it. There’s an intimacy here that goes beyond your average breakup song. Catlea doesn’t hold back on showing just how frustrating it all can be, being caught between heartache and healing.
One of the best things about ‘Bones’ is how vulnerable and real Catlea sounds. She transforms this not so great experience into a communal one. With her smooth vocals, the song becomes a space where listeners can feel safe, safe enough to in fact sit with their own feelings and think. The message is simple but real: it’s okay to feel lost, to not have it all figured out yet. The warmth of the melody and the honesty of the lyrics make you feel like you’re not alone in the heartbreak.
Crazy enough, ‘Bones’ almost didn’t make it onto ‘Language Barrier’, Catlea’s highly anticipated debut album. It was only when she was in the final production stages in the studio in Barcelona that her producer, Jason Boshoff, and guitarist, Oscar Garcia-Bragado, happened to hear a rough demo of it. They were like, “Why isn’t this on the album?” And that push was all she needed., she ended up finishing the song in just one night. Now, ‘Bones’ is not only on the album, but it’s one of the tracks that really stands out. It’s a perfect lead single and just shows how committed Catlea is to bringing out all these authentic emotions. ‘Language Barrier’ promises to be a debut that’s deep, vulnerable, and an unapologetic exploration of what makes us human.
