Madeleen Debuts with Emotional First EP “Someone Standing Here”
French singer Madeleen is starting a new chapter in her career with her debut EP ‘Someone Standing Here’. It’s full of emotional fragility and growth. She got the idea for the EP when her father was battling Alzheimer’s. It’s a way for her to express herself – and through singing she’s found a way to deal with the confusion and sadness of watching her father become a different person. And the EP doesn’t shy away from talking about love in all its forms – the one you let go of, the one that changes you, the one that makes you a better person.
It’s also about friendship. She recorded most of the songs in her bedroom studio with her friends. The only exception is track 3 where the drums were recorded in a real studio. Despite the lo-fi production the EP sounds really professional. And when it comes to blending indie pop with folk she does it well. Can’t not mention how her voice is heavenly with the melodies.
Music has always been a big part of Madeleen’s life since she was a kid. At 6 she started playing and improvising on her mother’s piano and later wrote her own music. At 15 she bought her first microphone and started recording in her bedroom. She kept the DIY approach for ‘Someone Standing Here’. The EP is everything she has learned and discovered since she was a kid, especially in music production and applied all the skills she learned during the recording process.
Madeleen’s debut ‘Someone Standing Here’ is very personal to her. It’s beautiful and a perfect mix of emotional intensity and gentle melody. She connects with the listener so well while sharing her experiences – whether it’s pain, love or personal growth. This is the perfect introduction to her talent, her sound and her storytelling will grab many in the indie, pop and folk scene.
