Daph Veil: Paula Laubach’s Genre-Defying Sonic Journey

Daph Veil is the latest creative project from multi-talented musician Paula Laubach. It’s a project that pushes the boundaries of what a "genre" even means. It’s truly an immersive sound experience and she collaborates with new musicians for each track. Daph Veil is a platform for collaboration, where every song becomes a new piece of art with its own singularity but everything aims to be cohesive.

The debut single, "I Don't Need You (Someday)," is a perfect example of what Paula's doing with Daph Veil. It's got this dark wave elements combined with these atmospheric almost haunting sounds. As the multi-instrumentalist that she is, Paula played all the instruments on the track, except for the drums, which Jeff Conner did. And then there's Rebecca Price, who wrote lyrics that are pretty deep in order to complete the song. The three of them together created this beautiful moody track that feels sad but strong at the same time.

The track was recorded at the Ice Cream Factory Studio in Austin, Texas which was perfect for creating this unique sound, chill atmosphere and Paula’s creative experimenting. Every detail in "I Don’t Need You (Someday)" feels like it was thought out, like every sound was intentional in order to pull listeners deeply into the track. The production is spacious and ambient as it brings together those dark wave influences with something that feels both familiar and forward-thinking.

As Daph Veil keeps evolving, it seems like there’s going to be something new and innovative with every release. Paula collaborates with different musicians so each song has its own fresh vibe, which makes Daph Veil constantly change and grow. For fans of genre-defying music that pushes creative boundaries while keeping emotional depth, Daph Veil is definitely a project to watch. And with "I Don’t Need You (Someday)" as the first track, it’s already off to a great start.
