‘Un Souffle Dans La Nuit’: Flo Sabeva’s Haunting Ode to Unspoken Moments
Recorded with the European Recording Orchestra for the Film Scoring Academy of Europe project, the song unfolds with gentle piano and grandiose strings, conveying the longing to touch and the hesitation. That fleeting scene in Tirez sur le Pianiste, in which Edouard pauses over Lena's hand but never quite takes it—is reimagined here as it becomes something ethereal. Sabeva doesn’t just compose music; she scores wordless heartbreak.
London-based and effortlessly versatile, Sabeva is no stranger bringing emotion into sound. Whether backing synth-pop legends Heaven 17 on the road or composing scores for films, she has an eye for where to find the heart of a story. Un Souffle Dans La Nuit is the first taste of The Sofia Sessions, an intensely personal project that combines classical orchestration with modern textures. A piece that’s both intimate and cinematic, as if it belongs in the soundtrack of your own personal nostalgia. “This project is a tribute to Sofia—a city where my father worked as a violinist and that has deeply inspired me, both personally and musically”, she explains.
Flo Sabeva’s work is proof that some of the greatest stories don’t need words. Un Souffle Dans La Nuit is a quiet daydream, a melody for the minutes we allow to slip away. And just like the best scenes in film, it lingers—haunting, unresolved, and unforgettable.
