Inside Chloe Sofia’s Breakout Single ‘Pulse’

There's a new voice emerging from Milton, Canada, and her name is Chloe Sofia. Only fifteen years old, Chloe is already making news with her brand-new original single, "Pulse", a brilliant collaboration with producer Roy Hamilton III. It started with an online introduction via Hamilton's business, The Singer's Company, and then a live audition that set everything in motion. Chloe’s natural songwriting ability found its ideal match in Roy's production skills, and the two of them created a song that is as memorable musically as it is emotionally impactful.

"Pulse" is a concept-driven track that came from the seed of a comic book concept Chloe first envisioned. The song takes the form of a robot main character who, despite being suave-looking, is trying to replace his mechanical parts with pilfered human organs to become whole. With this outlandish concept, Chloe talks about inner beauty and deception and creates a metaphor that's haunting and relatable. The single balances tranquil harmonies with probing lyrics.

When writing songs Chloe generally begins wr iting a strong chorus, making sure there is a clear theme and a hook that sticks. This time around, however, working with Roy brought new layers of production. Roy helped create a sound as true to Chloe's distinctive voice setting the mood and atmosphere to playing around with the synths and beats. The song was recorded in Roy's Toronto studio, immersed in music history and inspiration.

Although juggling school and music is challenging, Chloe has already played with her band, Violet Theory, and as a solo artist throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Her career is just beginning, yet already it is filled with purpose and meaning. In her own words, Chloe describes: A daily affirmation that inspires her is, "Everything works out in the end, and if it doesn't, it's not the end."
