Sloane Monroe Turns Up the Heat with New Single ‘Magnetic’

After the success of her earlier release Clueless, Sloane Monroe is hurtling headfirst into the spotlight with her new single, "Magnetic"—an uncompromisingly bold and dancefloor-filling banger that cements her place in pop's rising elite. This song is a dancefloor declaration with an electronic edge and gleaming pop sensibilities. "Magnetic" is made for movement—be that in club lights or in the mirror before heading out.

At the heart of Magnetic is a great mix of futurism and nostalgia. Borrowing from the flirtatious sensuality of the early 2000s pop world while incorporating contemporary electronic influences, Sloane forges a sound that's both fresh and familiar. It's a territory where assertiveness and vulnerability exist side by side,  and Sloane works that ground like a pro. The result is a song that pulses with attitude and appeal.

The story behind Magnetic makes it richer. Sloane shares that  that its origin goes back to a solo violin loop she created at age fifteen, the product of experimenting with an octave pedal and late nights at London open mics. “I jokingly started to play that same bass line on a borrowed Prophet 5 synthesizer,” she recalls, “and immediately thought, ‘Oh, this is cool as hell.’” The impromptu moment ballooned into a full-fledged pop anthem—a song she describes as translating the sexy, seductive vibe of the original instrumental, now clothed in glam-friendly, glitter-smeared production.

Sloane Monroe’s musical journey is as diverse as her sound. Classically trained in folk and blues as a jazz violinist, she started her life as an artist impersonating Amy Winehouse and Nina Simone from the backseat of family road trips. She has been developing her pop sensibilities since relocating to London in 2018, working with the likes of Haydn Bendall and YUNGBLUD, and taking heavy influence from the city's multicultural nightlife. With "Magnetic", she gives us a statement—a shiny, synth-laden imperative to be strong, sexy, and unapologetically confident.
