A New Voice Unleashed: Kristen Castro Releases Debut Single "Malibu"

Kristen Castro is basking in the Cali sun, self-setting into her own limelight with "Malibu," the glowing, sun-kissed title track of her album Capricorn Baby. Each minute of its creation starts with her thinking and ends with her shaping it into something words can cradle, but never cage. Rather than crafting melodies, it’s like she’s on a journey of self discovery. Taking form as cast of self and soul, “Malibu,” winds the beginning spokes of the new dawn that is set to unravel in full bloom on August 8, 2025.

The melody feels like a heart-warming slow dance with deep history—gentle, agnosing, and incandescent. Rich guitars and otherworldly instrumentation cradle Kristen’s voice, pulling the audience into a realm of solitude. It’s here, on this sound bed shoreline that Capricorn Baby begins to blossom. An astro-graphic memoir steered by the gales of her Saturn Return—celestial turmoil where the ugly of adolescent years fades away and the unveiling truths start singing louder than the primal fear of existence.

To Kristen, this record isn't music – it's metamorphosis. It’s her form of resistance. “I couldn't find my voice and take up space,” she admits. And so this record is an act of defiance. “Malibu” is the first burst she shoots upwards, announcing I am here now – loudly.

She described Capricorn Baby as the metaphoric mountain that had to be summited over years of enduring ‘quiet’—the expanse of stillness and silence. Each track serves as a self-affirmation that reminds her, “I am the ‘I’ in I am.” Each self-reclamation. Each raw, unabashed sound—and an openness to feel it all.
