Hang On "To Tonight": Shelby Floyd Lights the Way Through the Dark

From the heart of the Kansas City music scene comes the sweet and spicy Shelby Floyd. The emotive yet genuine vocalist, Shelby, dropped her new single, "To Tonight," on October 3rd 2025. This song sounds like a confession, a conversation with a weary soul and the stars. Under the creative direction of Grammy-winning producer Brian Kennedy and the spiritual guidance of Angelique Cinelu, Shelby visits the depths of her heart and emotions, memories beautifully wrought into a burning and brilliant song eq ually painful and healing.

“To Tonight” is Shelby’s open letter to the unheard; those nights when the darkness is so oppressive and silence so suffocating, and all you want is a song to uplift you. Shelby’s songs evoke her inspirations– Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, and Alanis Morissette. While the track has elements of 90s pop, it is grounded in modern pop and the courage to confront painful emotions. "Hang on to tonight with me," she repeats in the chorus, letting you know that all nights must end, and light must return with the dawn.

What began with introspective notebook scribbles became a creative collaboration born of trust, candor, and shared vision. In the serenity of Brian and Angelique's Los Angeles recording studio — whose walls reflect the legacy of songstresses Kelly Clarkson and Rihanna — Shelby was compelled to step into complete ownership of her self. Translating her emotions into lush instrumentals by Brian and harmonies built with color that flowed with every note by Angelique, the recording became catharsis. Each shot not only took a voice, but a narrative away.

"To Tonight" is a gentle anthem of resilience. It informs us that despite the desperation and the silence, there is strength in feeling deeply and courage to make it to tomorrow. Shelby's message sounds like a beacon in blackness — illuminating the path to the realization that beauty and pain are not strangers, but walk side by side. She calls on listeners to be comforted by shared humanity, to breathe and keep moving. With "To Tonight," Shelby Floyd turns her own survival into a song, singing to us all to lift our heads, hold on for just a little while longer, and celebrate the tiny miracle of living through to the night.
