Michellar’s “Never Say Sorry” — A Soulful Reflection on Love and Growth

With her latest song "Never Say Sorry," Michellar guides listeners through a personal ride of love, loss, and discovery. The track confines the heart-wrenching moments of what could have been real connection and embracing learned realities. Written from actual experiences, Michellar brings each lyric to life with heartfelt self-reflection, creating something that is personal but relatable to all people. The song is a tear-jerking declaration that love, if genuine, has a tendency of coming back around — apologies unnecessary.

Posting a career milestone for Michellar, "Never Say Sorry" celebrates the artist's first-year anniversary of releasing fully-produced music. Michellar has matured both musically and emotionally since last year, continually striving to improve on her songwriting. The new song reflects that maturity — a balance of vulnerability and assurance that is representative of her dedication to crafting good stories. Written by Tobias Wilson and recorded midway between San Francisco and Staffordshire, England, the song's production is transitional, as are the feelings it addresses: distance and closeness, leaving and coming back.

Unlike most songs that are written from clear inspirations, "Never Say Sorry" is a reflection of Michellar's personal experience. The artist sings about breaking up with someone and only then knowing what has been lost — something which most can identify with. With gentle melodies and simple sincerity, Michellar reminds everyone that the genuineness of love never fades with time or distance. When true, it comes full circle, and in its bosom, there is a quiet which enables us to have vision and not regret.

In addition to the single, Michellar continues to incorporate music and visual art into new fusion forms. Her next San Francisco art exhibition, "HIGH FLOW," is fifteen cover art paintings of albums on Spotify that feature QR codes incorporated within each one to form an interactive listen. She will also be treated to live performances of these songs during the course of the exhibition at San Francisco Women Artists Gallery, October 4–31. With paintings like these — and forward-thinking releases like "Never Say Sorry" — Michellar demonstrates that art, regardless of how it's made, is an act of continued love and discovery.
