Ula Steps Into the Spotlight with Her Striking Debut EP “Boysulk”

Emerging alt-pop artist, Ula, makes a bold entry into the scene courtesy of her sensational EP, Boysulk, that is as daring as it is exquisitely produced. This five-track offering, now available on all the popular streaming platforms through APOLLO Distribution, brings to the fore Ula as a singer, a producer, a recording engineer, and a creator who is well in charge of her craft. By incorporating cinematic sounds and precision-crafted lyrics, Boysulk brings to the UK’s music platform one of its most compelling new voices.

This body of work is a triumph of independence and creativity. Whether it’s the ethereal quality of her pre-release singles such as ‘So Kind,’ ‘In My Eyes,’ or ‘Danger’—the BBC Radio 1 supported track—each new piece that’s surfaced, including ‘Corridors’ and ‘Best Day,’ reveals a treasure trove of avant-pop sounds that range from ethereal to earthly, going from melodic to experimental. The non-linear sound of this release is much like her own sound, a fusion of the quirky of St. Vincent, Allie X’s theatrical quality, to the mystical quality of Aurora.

The lead-up to Boysulk has certainly made waves among influencers within the music scene. Record of the Day favored her debut ‘So Kind’ for being “a confident and creatively assured debut from a clearly visionary artist,” and Rotate Magazine declared ‘In My Eyes’ a “hauntingly magnificent piece of pop.” Most recently, Lock Magazine found ‘Danger’ to be solidifying her place among the UK’s most brilliant alt-pop up-and-comers. Now, finally, all five tracks are combined, and the story of Ula is complete.

Poland-born, but living a truly independent, driven, and dedicated artist’s life, Ula’s experience is one of moving to the UK to study at the prestigious BRIT School at the mere age of 17, releasing music as the frontwoman of prog-pop outfit Tenacity, playing at almost 70 different venues across London, and cultivating her technical skills as a recording engineer and session musician. Boysulk signals the start of a new era for Ula—a brave collection of tracks that showcases the emergence of a full-blooded creative presence, and promises a far more exhilarating transformation to come.
