Where Fragility Glows: Introducing "goose princess"

Goose princess is a beam of light in a rough-nipped world, an art-pop masterpiece born out of turmoil, awe, and a raw need to transmute disorder into something radiant. The press has already gathered close to analyze it, to decipher if it is a declaration of purpose or a dream sequence of bedroom and art-pop tunes that exist on a wafer-thin surface of synths that seem to float on a pocketful of air, hovering on the edge of breakability and infinity. This is music that is discovered, not developed—music that somehow drifted into a slightly open window with the first rays of sunlight.

Though there is a delicateness to this music, there is a narrative written within blazing, delirious colors. “These songs were written during a very dark but mad couple of years,” goose princess thinks, her words imbued with a sense that comes from navigating a tempest but finding a tune within its wake. Why allow darkness to merely empty her out? This goose princess hit play on her heart and filled those spaces with joy because this music shines because it knows how to break. Influential voices on the radio circuit have caught on to this, describing her voice as unforgettable, her name one to remember, a sign that big things are on the horizon.

The EP is a tapestry woven out of landscapes and experiences—frosty stillness that enveloped Reykjavik, London’s busy beat, and England’s tranquil landscape where silence is a musical instrument in its own right. The band wrote these tunes during that hazy post-winter holiday period when time moved like honey, and they produced it within a month. This EP is like an intake of air that could not wait to happen. It is like each song is a doorway into a moment that she could no more let go of.

Released on 19th November, this EP, titled goose princess, is very much part of this dream-tinged indie-pop tradition—it is redolent of Caroline Polachek’s glass-inflected production, Yumi Zouma’s homesick romanticism, and Tycho’s electronic halos. Yet it is by no means a copy—it is its own star chart, forged out of insomnia, far-off places, and a heart beginning to grow. As it slowly emerges into our reality, it is an invitation to press pause and listen, to allow its hidden magic to sweep us into a place that is gentler.
